Trick or Treat!

Halloween was exciting!! Or rather, Halloween was something I was excited ABOUT. As it turns out, October is quite cold in this hemisphere of the north – who’d have thought, huh? Subsequently my costume choice was not what is usually considered sensible. Although much more conservative than a lot of girls here, my bare arms and semi bare legs were frozen almost numb. It also happens that the Halloween party I attended fell on a rainy, windy evening and took place outside. This was definitely something I would have liked to have known, since it caused me to break the “no heels in mud” rule. I did see some really awesome costumes though, like two friends dressed up as a giant toothbrush and a giant tube of toothpaste. Yes: Americans take this holiday VERY seriously and the competitive atmosphere is amazing. As such there is a game spreading through campus called “Humans and Zombies”. The Humans are attacked by the Zombies and become Zombies themselves … or something.

I was disappointed that I didn't get to do the whole Trick or Treat thing. But apparently this is for children?

I felt a bit sad recently too – I missed my best buddy’s 21st birthday, it’s my boyfriend’s birthday next week and my dad’s the week after. I feel like a bad friend/girlfriend/daughter. They don’t seem to mind though. Which is weird, because I sooooo would.

Oh oh!! And I've organised a trip to Montreal which is actually quite close to here. I'm tres excited to practice my French - until then!
